1.91 crore voters to exercise franchise

HYDERABAD: The second phase of elections to the local bodies in 11 districts will be held on Sunday against the backdrop of violence that rocked polls in the earlier round on Wednesday.

The districts going to polls are Chittoor, Guntur, Khammam, Mahbubnagar, Nellore, Nizamabad, Ranga Reddy, Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam, Warangal and West Godavari. A total of 1.91 crore voters would exercise their franchise to elect 515 ZPTC members and 7,676 MPTC members.

The police have stepped up vigil in the trouble-prone areas of Khammam, Warangal, Guntur and Visakhapatnam.
