BANGALORE: Bangaloreans can now enjoy mangoes even after the fruit season comes to a close here. Rajya Krishi Utpadan Mandi Parishad from Uttar Pradesh on Saturday launched the "Nawab" brand of Dashehari, Langra and Chausa mangoes. "The traditional mango season in the southern region is in early May and June. By getting north Indian varieties to Bangalore later in the year, we can extend the mango season for the people here," said G.K. Vasanth Kumar, Director of Horticulture. Mr. Kumar suggested that Karnataka should sell its mangoes in northern India during the start of the mango season. Mr. Kumar stressed the need for packing the mangoes properly. "If we properly pack and preserve our mangoes, we can export them to many countries," he said.
