The wide media coverage of World Cup football is heartening. It is hoped the extravaganza of matches with a superb display of skill and stamina will be a shot in the arm for young aspirants. As of now, we are like the cheerleaders who watch the show from the sidelines, and go wild with ecstasy over others' performance.

* * * The age of Bertie Wooster relaxing and watching cricket is past. Viewers are glued to their TVs for full 90 minutes with very little interruption for advertisements. Matches are full of excitement, action, and interest. Unlike cricket, action in a football match is continuous and happening every minute. If the World Cup fever is an indicator, it appears that in the near future, the youth of India will change over to football.
