VIJAYAWADA: The Department of Animal Husbandry and Vasavi Club will jointly organise a mega camp on the premises of the Government Veterinary Hospital, adjacent to N.S.M Public School at Patamata, on July 6 to mark World Zoonosis Day. Addressing a press meet here on Monday, national joint secretary of the All-India Association of Vasavi Clubs V. Hajarathaiah Gupta said nearly 500 dogs would be vaccinated against rabies, which could get transmitted to a human being if bitten by an infected dog. He said people could bring their pet dogs to the camp, which would begin at 8 a.m. K. Srinivasa Rao, veterinary assistant surgeon, said the very purpose of observing the Zoonosis Day was to create awareness among public about diseases that get transmitted to human beings from animals.
