Commodity prices

The following were the prices (in Rs.per kg) of essential commodities in the local wholesale market on Monday, according to Vijayawada Chamber of Commerce and Industry:

Groundnut oil - 53.50, palmolein oil- 42, sunflower oil - 49, tamarind (flower variety) - 30 to 39, tamarind - 44 to 52, chillies- (new) 35 to 45, rice (2716)-14, rice (super fine)-15, rice (sona masoori)-18 to 19, rice (samba masoori)- 16, black gram-41.50 and red gram-23 to 28.

Tricycles distributed

Maheswari Navayuvak Seva Samithi on Monday distributed five tricycles, five wheel chairs and other callipers to 150 physically challenged persons at a function held at Maheswari Bhavan. Vijayawada MLA Shaik Nazarvali and corporator N. Nageswara Rao attended. The samithi also conducted orthopaedic camp in which Dr. Anil Kumar and Dr. Satya Kumar examined patients.

Campus recruitment

Wipro Technologies, Hyderabad, conducted campus recruitment at KLCE for the final year B.Tech students of 2007 batch and selected 39 students. K. Satyanarayana, Chairman, and L.S.S. Reddy, principal, complimented the students for the selection.
