Cyriac Joseph, Kumaraswamy meet, discuss setting up of Circuit Benches

BANGALORE: Chief Minister, H.D. Kumaraswamy on Thursday called on Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court Cyriac Joseph.

The meeting took place at the residence of Mr. Cyriac Joseph. Among other issues, they discussed the modalities of setting up Circuit Benches in northern Karnataka, it is learnt. Mr. Kumaraswamy told presspersons that he had raised various issues with the Chief Justice, including starting work on the proposed Circuit Benches.

No reappointment

On the appointment of a Lokayukta, he said the matter was discussed. He dismissed the possibility of reappointing former Lokayukta N. Venkatachala to the post. He said the Government would take appropriate action expeditiously, and this would be as per the provisions of the law.

The Chief Minister, sources said, also discussed a judicial probe into the Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor (BMIC) project and the modalities of the probe panel.
