BANGALORE: Minster for Home and Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister M.P.Prakash on Thursday refuted the allegations levelled by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Bellary district unit president and MLC Janardhana Reddy that he and his son were responsible for transferring Superintendent of Police Pankaj Kumar Thakur. Terming the allegation as baseless and motivated, Mr. Prakash told presspersons here that the facts were to the contrary. It was he who brought Mr. Thakur to the district appreciating his functioning and the two maintained cordial relations. He had even requested Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy to retain Mr. Thakur but the latter had his own administrative reasons to shift the police official. The Minister said that he was ready to face any inquiry and if Mr. Reddy wanted to conduct one, he was welcome to do so. Mr. Prakash said he had explained this position to all the BJP leaders, but still Mr. Reddy tried to politicise the issue. He clarified that his son Ravi was not a mine owner nor did he have any links with the mining industry. His son was in Bangalore when an incident took place at Beldota in Bellary district. Even MLA Suryanarayana Reddy was not in the town. He did not know why Mr. Janardhana Reddy was levelling false allegations against him and Mr. Ravi. Perhaps, the BJP leaders thought that they were able to destroy the Congress and now they were targeting the Janata Dal (S). Reacting to the statement of BJP State unit president D.V.Sadananda Gowda on the issue, Mr. Prakash, who is Janata Dal (S) State unit president, said that such issues should be taken up at the Coordination Committee.
