BANGALORE: The Ashraya Seva Kirana Charitable Trust in association with the Para-Olympic Association will conduct a two-day national level sports meet, cultural programmes and competitions for the physically challenged. The event will be held on July 28 and 29 at the Kalamandira in Mandya district. Winners will get prizes to be held during the meet. Free board and lodging will also be provided to the participants. B.C. Shivananda, secretary of the trust, said: "This is aimed at providing the physically challenged greater opportunities and giving them a platform to display their talent and ability." Ghanashyam T. Bhandage, vice-president, Karnataka Handicapped Sports Parishat, and an international disabled sportsman remarked, "It will bring together the best opportunity for the disabled community to exhibit their skills. Even people from a rural background will get the chance to come forward and participate." He also drew the attention to the plight of the handicapped in the country and urged the Government to take effective steps to improve their condition and expand their potential.
