Back Provident fund computerisation by '08

The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) would complete the process of business process re-engineering (BPR) in its offices in 2007-08, according to Mr A. Viswanathan, Central PF Commissioner and Chief Executive of EPFO. The BPR project would be implemented at six centres in the country on a pilot basis during the year.

Addressing presspersons here, Mr Viswanathan said theregional PF Office in Mangalore is one of the two offices where the BPR project would be implemented on a pilot basis on August 15. The sub-regional officeat Kota in Rajasthan would be the other.

Following successful implementation in these offices, it would be implemented in other pilot centres at Hyderabad, Indore, Patna and Karnal. "Other offices of EPFO will complete the project of BPR in 2007-08," he said.

BPR contemplates full computerisation of the work of EPFO in all spheres of activities. Once implemented, PF members can submit their claim for withdrawal, settlement, transfer, etc to any of the EPFO offices, and their claim would be processed online and settled within three days. Accounts of the member would be updated on a monthly basis, and the members can seek information anytime and anywhere, he said. This would also enhance the quality compliance and labour market data.
