There is one aspect common to all localities in the city and it is distribution of the preventive medicine for chikungunya. Even when voluntary organisations and political parties are distributing the preventive homeopathy medicine, many people, with the hope of restoring health, are opting for ayurvedic medicine too. All this for the cause of restoring good health and who knows very soon the only left out stream of medicine, Unani, can also become the panacea for many ills, including the current rage chikungunya. The review meeting convened by district in-charge Minister Mohammed Ali Shabbir on Monday to review arrangements for Bonalu turned out to be a forum for people's representatives to air their grievances. Beginning with deplorable civic conditions to the inordinate delay in convening the meeting, MLAs, corporators and committee members of various temples in the twin cities made it clear that they were not satisfied with the arrangements for the festival. At one stage, Kishan Reddy, BJP MLA, said Ministers would come and go but officials should ensure continuity in the system for which Minister M. Satayanarayana Rao promptly reacted. "Why comment unnecessarily about Ministers. Even officials are shifted once in two or three years." But Kishan Reddy made light of the situation by laughing and explaining to the Minister that he meant no offence. " I am only insisting for continuity in system and procedures so that things work smoothly."
