Back TDSAT to use SMS as case-alert

New Delhi, July 11

After being used for weather alerts and cricket updates, SMS will now be used by the Telecom Dispute Settlement Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) to alert people about upcoming cases in the court one day in advance. The TDSAT has proposed to set up an SMS alert registry comprising mobile numbers of all those who want to be kept informed.

The service will, however, be available only for the lawyers or companies fighting a case in the TDSAT. The TDSAT handles about 10 different cases every day on an average, which makes it difficult for the industry and petitioners to keep track of the proceedings. "The TDSAT is considering setting up an alert system by which the concerned counsel/parties whose cases would be listed the next day would be informed by an SMS. All advocates/parties appearing before the Tribunal are requested to give their mobile telephone numbers for preparation of the SMS alert registry."
