CHENNAI: The Government is listing the requirements of each government hospital in terms of vacancies to be filled, medicines and other facilities and all these will be met within a couple of months, Health Minister K.K.S.S.R. Ramachandran has said. After inaugurating a medical camp organised by the Rotary Club of Madras Centenary Commemoration Trust here on Sunday, he told reporters that the Government realised there was increasing demand for paramedical courses. While there was no plan to start more colleges offering these courses, private colleges had been requested to increase the seats.
100 children examined
The medical camp, in which over 100 children were examined, was organised for students of M.C.t.M.Higher Secondary School and Balar Kalvi Nilayam. Former DGP and president of the club V. Vaikunth said a team of leading doctors and specialists had agreed to participate. ``We plan to conduct more such camps in different parts of central, north and south Chennai." Speaking about the activities of the club, he said besides health camps, they were working with the Chennai Corporation and helping them purchase learning tools for children of corporation schools. Adult literacy programmes and medical camps were also being conducted at Karanaipuducheri.
