Garbage disposal tops Ambattur's civic woes

The town generates about 200 tonnes of garbage on a daily basis

CHENNAI: Ambattur residents complain of delay in clearance of garbage and attribute the problem to administrative hiccups in the town's civic body .

Garbage is piling up in several areas in Ambattur municipality, raising a stench, with the dumping yard inadequate to take the load. Quoting last week's incident when private and municipal lorries, loaded with garbage, were parked within the municipal office premises, they say garbage disposal was becoming a big problem.The 7-acre Athipattu dumping yard is yet to be levelled for dumping more refuse.
