Remove illegal structures around Chowmohalla: High Court

MCH seeks time to carry out orders citing `some complications'

HYDERABAD: A Division Bench of the High Court on Tuesday directed the authorities to take all steps to remove illegal structures which had sprung up around Chowmohalla Palace, Hyderabad. The Bench was dealing with a petition wherein the status of heritage and historical structures was being scrutinised by the court. It was brought to the notice of the Bench that several structures had come up illegally around the Chowmohalla Palace in violation of the rules. The Bench felt that all such structures be removed. The Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad said it would remove the structures, but it will take some time due to "some complications". The Bench directed the authorities to take the help of police, if necessary, for removal of such structures.

Medical waste

The Bench on Tuesday wanted the State Government to report back to it within four weeks about the steps taken for implementation of the rules pertaining to disposal of medical waste from hospitals. The Bench was dealing with a writ wherein the issue of non-disposal of medical waste and its effect on the urban environment came to the notice of the court. The Bench declared that every hospital, including Government hospital should dispose of the medical waste only as per the rules framed by Pollution Control Board.

Voter list

The gram panchayat elections in the villages of Tatti Annaram in Ranga Reddy district and Bommakal in Warangal district will not take place till the disposal of the pending applications pertaining to inclusions and exclusions from the voter list of these two villages.

Residents of these two villages filed two separate writ petitions complaining about the action of the authorities in deleting large number of names from the list, but not taking adequate steps to conduct inquiry when applications were made as per the rules.

The Election Commission informed the court on Tuesday that the process of verification may take some more time.

The Bench recorded the same and directed the authorities to look into the applications made and then only conduct elections.
