Back Hoist by its own petard?

With the business press getting more aggressive, some corporates seem not averse to guerilla tactics. In the last week, one journalist received an anonymous e-mail saying that he was re-cycling stories. The e-mail was forwarded to some other correspondents covering the same beat. Initially, it was thought that some competitor who had missed the story was floating the mail, but that got ruled out after a few checks. Ultimately, one corporate house rang up the targeted journalist to deny that it had sent the mail, only to be told that no one had accused it of doing so in the first place. But the suo motu denial said it all.
