Back Ex-gratia to CBEC staff killed in blasts

The Finance Minister, Mr P. Chidambaram, has sanctioned payment of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of the two employees of the Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) who were killed in the recent Mumbai blasts.

An official release said that Shasi Shekhar and Sanjay Samant, both inspectors of Thane-II central excise commissionerates, were killed in the bomb blasts. It also said that 11 other officers/employees of CBEC were injured and that all medical expenses would be borne by the Government. Two superintendents who suffered permanent disability have been given ex-gratia payments of Rs 1 lakh each, the release said.
