Bomb hoax keeps police busy

BANGALORE: An anonymous call that a bomb has been planted at a commercial complex near the Police Commissioner's office on Infantry Road caused anxiety among the employees of various firms situated in the building.

The police said that around 9 a.m. on Thursday, the security supervisor of the building received a call that a bomb has been planted at the building.

After he alerted the police, the staff of the Bomb Disposal Squad, along with sniffer dogs, searched the building. No explosives were found and the call turned out to be a hoax, the police said.

The commercial complex houses some business process outsourcing firms and business establishments, including the office of a former minister and a senior Congress leader, the police said.

Meanwhile, on Thursday morning, the public, who found a black cable lying near the gate of Hotel Chalukya, alerted the High Grounds police suspecting that it could be an explosive.

The Bomb Disposal Squad examined the object and found that it was a cable used by BSNL for laying telephone lines, the police said.
