Golden Mile: evicted farmers to get house sites

HUDA has reserved 3.5 acres for ryots' rehabilitation

HYDERABAD: The farmers who were evicted from the Government lands in Kokapet for HUDA's Golden Mile layout project are likely to get house sites of 100 sq. yards each.

HUDA earned handsome revenue on Thursday from the auction of Golden Mile plots in Kokapet. It did not auction all the plots and reserved three plots in site I for HUDA's future projects and another 3.5 acre plot in Site II for rehabilitation of affected farmers of the village.

Though the farmers planned a dharna on the day of auction at HUDA office, authorities held discussions with them the day before and convinced them that their case would be looked into.

Verification

Accordingly HUDA forwarded the list of 100 farmers to the Ranga Reddy District Collector for verification and house sites would be sanctioned to them from the site earmarked for the purpose, it is said.

HUDA authorities said no pattas had been issued to the farmers cultivating the Government lands and question of compensation would arise only when patta lands were acquired by the Government. Yet it has been decided to give house sites to the farmers, according to authorities.
