HYDERABAD: Frustrated over rejection of his proposal to marry the girl he liked, a youngster allegedly attempted to murder her father here at Sanathnagar on Friday. The accused youth Sharfuddin, 22, later surrendered before the officials of Hyderabad Central Crime Station. The injured person Khaja Miya, 55, was operated upon at Gandhi Hospital, where doctors said he was out of danger. A bangle storeowner, Khaja Miya used to live at Indiragandhipuram in Sanathnagar. A resident of the same locality, Sharfuddin reportedly fell in love with his daughter and approached Khaja Miya saying he wanted to marry her. As he was a school dropout, his request was turned down. Since then, the electrician bore grudge against the girl's father and was reportedly waiting for an opportunity to vent his anger. On Friday afternoon, when the girl's father went to a local mosque to offer afternoon prayers, the youngster intercepted him and attacked with a sword, inflicting bleeding injuries and ran away. Learning about his surrender before the CCS, the Sanathnagar police took him into custody after registering a case under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of IPC against him.
