Back Meet to discuss construction industry problems

As a precursor to `Advantage Maharashtra', the State convention of real estate developers of Maharashtra, the Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association of India (Credai) and the Maharashtra Chamber of Housing Industry (MCHI), have highlighted various issues that will be taken up for discussion with the Government during the convention.

"The convention will be held on July 31 and it will be attended by several Union Ministers and Ministers of Maharashtra Cabinet. Builder representatives from Mumbai and 22 tier II and tier III towns in Maharashtra will attend the convention and discuss their problems with top policy makers and bureaucrats," said Mr Sunil Mantri, Vice-President, MCHI.

Issues like the implementation of Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) and Environment Impact Assessment Notification, scrapping of Urban Land (Ceiling and Regulation) Act, infrastructure modernisation and private forest land acquisition will be discussed at the convention.

Submit representations

"The convention will discuss all issues pertaining to the construction industry. We will also submit some representations to do away with Urban Land (Ceiling and Regulation) Act, reducing the sway and scope of CRZ on non-coastal lands and lowering municipal taxes,'' said Mr Mofatraj Munot, President, MCHI. The Maharashtra Chief Minister, Mr Vilasrao Deshmukh, will inaugurate the convention held at Jamshed Bhabha Auditorium, NCPA at Nariman Point.
