Bangalore: The State Government will open 1,000 tele-centres across the State like the Bangalore One citizen service centres to enable people to pay their bills and access other services under one roof, the State's e-Governance Secretary, Rajiv Chawla, said here on Thursday. Launching Airtel's customer service initiative in collaboration with Bangalore One, Mr. Chawla said people in other parts of the State would also be able to pay their bills, buy bus passes, check land records and access 38 services of the Revenue Department through kiosks at the tele-centres. The Government planned to open one kiosk in each hobli, he said. One of the highlights of the tele-centres would be that people could lodge a police complaint from there, Mr. Chawla said. "All these centres will be linked through VSAT connectivity and will enable people in remote areas to pay their bills and access other services, including applying for khata certificates," Mr. Chawla said. The Government was keen on employing people with disabilities in the Bangalore One centres, he said.
Railway, airline tickets
Citizens would be able to purchase railways tickets through Bangalore One centres shortly. "We are talking to the Railway authorities, and this facility should be available in a month's time," he said. He said that the Government also proposed to launch airline ticket booking through the centres and talks were on with Kingfisher Airlines, Air Deccan and Indian for introducing the service. Vipin Singh, Director, Bangalore One, said 1,000 Bangalore One counters would come up in the next two months.
