Chennai becomes 18th centre in nationwide network

MCA 21, e-governance initiative by the Ministry of Company Affairs, was launched in Chennai. It is the 18th centre in the network.

Mr Prem Chand Gupta, Union Minister for Company Affairs, who presided over the launch, said that it would be launched in Kolkata on Sunday. This would complete the nation-wide roll out of MCA 21, barring Jammu where connectivity has to be provided, he said.

Mission-mode project

Mr Dayanidhi Maran, Union Minister for Communications and Information Technology, the chief guest at the function, said that MCA 21 is a mission-mode project under the Government's National e-Governance Plan. This project was executed in a public-private partnership with Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (TCS).

According to a TCS press release, the project estimated to cost Rs 341 crore in all, provides for an outlay of Rs 314 crore to be paid to TCS over the tenure of the contract. The MCA targets switching over to complete e-registration and e-filing.
