BANGALORE: The Advocates Association of Bangalore on Saturday said that work on the construction of an additional building on the Magistrate Courts premises and renovation at the Mayo Hall court complex was on. Association president D.L. Jagadeesh told presspersons here that the Government had given Rs. 1 crore for taking up the Mayo Hall renovation. He said work on the multi-storeyed car park, Sulabh Shouchalaya and hydraulic lift at the Sessions Court complex, all estimated at Rs. 20 crore, was nearing completion. Detailing the achievements of the association, Mr. Jagadeesh said efforts were being made to shift the Karnataka Administrative Tribunal (KAT) from the BDA Complex in Indiranagar to the multi-storeyed buildings. He said efforts were on to even shift the Karnataka State Consumer Forum, located at Basava Bhavan, and the Labour Courts at Gandhinagar, to the multi-storeyed buildings. He said the work of the Advocates Academy, which had been set up on the premises of the District and Sessions Court, Bangalore, in training advocates and making them better equipped in legal issues had been appreciated. He said the plans of the association included distribution of sites to advocates by way of bulk allotment through the BDA, group insurance scheme for advocates and construction of advocates' chambers among others.
