Bodies of two boys found in palace lake

BANGALORE: Two boys, aged 15, had drowned in the lake on the Palace Grounds in High Grounds police station limits.

The two bodies were found floating in the lake on Tuesday afternoon. The police suspect that the boys drowned when they went for a swim. One of the dead has been identified as Stephen Santosh Kumar, a resident of Vasanthnagar and a ninth standard student of St. Joseph's Indian High School. He had gone missing since Monday evening, the police said.

The identity of the other boy was yet to be established. The High Grounds police have registered a case.

Mason killed

A 35-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run case reported from Hebbal traffic police station limits on Tuesday night.

The police said that around 10 p.m., a vehicle rammed Perumal's motorcycle on Bellary Road, off Kempapura, and sped away.

Perumal, a mason and a resident of Attur Layout, died on the way to hospital. The Hebbal traffic police have registered a case and are on the lookout for the vehicle.

Fire in shop

Fire broke out at a tailoring shop at Marenahalli in Vijayanagar police station limits around 7.45 a.m. on Wednesday.

Clothes and sewing machines were destroyed in the fire, caused by electric short circuit, the police said. Two fire tenders rushed to the spot and put out the fire. The Vijayanagar police have registered a case.

Arrested

The East Division police have arrested three persons, including two brothers, on charge of robbery and recovered from them Rs. 37,600 in cash and a mobile phone.

The names of the arrested were given as Francis (20) of Viveknagar and Sudir (20) and his brother, Sunil (21), both residents of Lingarajapuram.
