Supreme Court judge must head probe, says AIPJD

AIPJD wants U.L. Bhat commission wound up

Bangalore: The All-India Progressive Janata Dal has demanded an inquiry by a sitting judge of the Supreme Court into the Rs. 150 crore bribery charge against Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy.

Party leaders M. Raghupathy and A.K. Subbaiah told presspersons here on Thursday that if the Government was unwilling to yield to the Congress demand for an inquiry by the Central Bureau of Investigation, then it could set up a commission of inquiry headed by a Supreme Court judge. All allegations made against the Chief Minister and members of his family and others in the Government should be referred to the commission.

They said the Government should rescind the order constituting the commission of inquiry headed by the retired Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court U.L. Bhat.

Mr. Raghupathy said the party would soon call on Governor T.N. Chaturvedi and submit a memorandum urging him to bring the allegations against those in the Government to the notice of the Centre.
