Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Cyriac Joseph, Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court, on Thursday instructed the Government to look into the possibility of providing underground parking facilities on the High Court premises.

Mr. Cyriac Joseph asked Minister for Public Works H.D. Revanna, who had come to the High Court for the inauguration of a fencing project, if underground parking could be provided both in the front and at the back of the High Court building.

Officials of the Public Works Department (PWD) informed Mr. Cyriac Joseph and Mr. Revanna that underground parking could be provided without damaging the tree cover in the Cubbon Park.

Chief Architect of the State Uday said sophisticated and modern security gadgets could be installed in the underground parking lot to monitor the vehicles.

Mr. Revanna later said that he had promised Mr. Cyriac Joseph that the PWD officials would conduct soil test, study the feasibility of the project and submit a report.
