Back New insurance ombudsman

Mr P.A. Chowdhury, IRS (Retd), has taken over as the new insurance ombudsman. He succeeds Mr G.R. Reddy, who has completed his three-year term. Mr Chowdhury is the former Chief Commissioner of Income-Tax, Andhra Pradesh. The insurance ombudsman is an insurance grievance redressal authority with the objective of providing a forum for resolving disputes and complaints from the public. According to an official press release, insurance companies operating in both general and life insurance business in public and private sectors are covered under the ambit of the authority.
