SHOWCASING TALENT: Students performing at Prerane 2006 organised by Prasiddhi School at Palace Grounds in Bangalore.
BANGALORE: Prasiddhi School, Palace Grounds, hosted Prerane 2006, an inter-school fest, on its premises on Thursday. Prerane was a platform for students to showcase their talent. Ali Khwaja, chairman, Banjara Academy, was the chief guest at the inaugural function. He stressed the need for all-round development of children. Prerane 2006 attracted 350 students from 18 schools. "Quiz", "persona personified", "group music", and "group dance" were the events in junior and senior categories. Narayana Raju S., secretary of the institution, presented mementoes to the winners and the runners in the respective events. Principal Meenakshi V. thanked the participants. MES Kishora Kendra, Poorna Prajna High School, Stella Maris School, Florence Public School, and Vyalikaval Education Society won many prizes.
`Kick off ceremony'
In India, Captain T.H. Baker established the first Scout unit at the Bishop Cotton Boys' School in 1909 for British, European and Anglo-Indian students drawn from three schools. It was a proud moment for the school's Scout troupe as the centenary celebrations were kicked off from its precincts. A.J. Sadashiva, former judge of the Karnataka High Court, released a book, "Indian Scouting and Freedom Struggle", by T.S. Mahajan. Former Minister P.G.R. Sindhia presided over the function. Principal John Ellis expressed his happiness that the celebrations were being kicked off from his school.
Annual Prize Day
She distributed prizes to meritorious students. G. Bhvana, Nida Taranum and Shwetha Singh received special prizes for excelling in academics.
Investiture ceremony
Principal M. Ramamurthy pinned the badges and administered the oath to newly selected leaders. Muthappa B.Y. and Lokesh K.N. were chosen as student leaders. Clarence Public School, J.P. Nagar, held its investiture ceremony recently. A.F. Kudroli presided over the programme. Principal Nimmi George pinned the badges and administered the oath to the office-bearers. Sona Sojan and Akash C.R. were selected as school captain and vice-captain respectively.
