Water level

MADURAI: The level in the Periyar dam on Tuesday stood at 119.90 feet (full level 136 feet) with an inflow of 289 cusecs and a discharge of 1,000 cusecs. The level in the Vaigai dam was 43.93 feet (full level 71 feet) with an inflow of 554 cusecs and a discharge of 41 cusecs. The combined Periyar credit stood at 3,574 mcft.

Sothuparai dam recorded 25 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours.

NAAC team visit

A peer team from National Assessment and Accreditation Council will inspect the Fatima College from August 9 to 11 for assessing the institution for re-accreditation . The team members will interact with the staff, students, parents and alumnae to get feedback about the present system and areas for improvement.

BSNL maintenance

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited telecom services to subscribers of Nagamalai Pudukottai, Thuvariman, Doak Nagar and Koodal Nagar telephone exchanges, Vinayaga Complex and Doak Nagar cell sites will be affected for a short duration on the midnight of August 9 owing to maintenance work. To improve services, rearrangement of optical fibre cable between Ellis Nagar and Nagamalai Pudukottai will be taken up, according to a BSNL press release.

TNEB grievance day

Superintending Engineer, Madurai Electricity Distribution Circle, will chair a grievance day meeting on August 10 at 11 a.m. for East/Madurai Division at the office of Assistant Executive engineer, South, Melur. Grievances of power consumers of the region can be aired at the meeting.
