Chain snatched

MADURAI: A student was relieved of her three-sovereign gold chain at Naganankulam on the city outskirts here on Monday.

According to police sources, S. Uma Maheswari (19) of Dindigul, studying in a college at Tiruppalai, was returning to her hostel when a motorcycle-borne youth snatched her chain. Even as the victim raised an alarm, the suspect sped away.

In a similar incident at Avaniapuram, a youth snatched a 2.5-sovereign gold chain from a woman last evening. S. Shanthi (30) of Meenakshi Nagar was walking towards a shop when the suspect snatched her chain from behind.
