Judicial custody of 13 accused in Paritala case extended

Court to look into bail, prison option petitions

  • CBI asked to file objects on bail pleas before August 14



    CASE GOES ON: Suri, key accused in Paritala Ravindra murder case speaking to one his kin from the vehicle in the court premises at Anantapur on Thursday.

    ANANTAPUR: The District and Sessions Court here on Thursday extended the judicial custody of 13 accused in the Paritala Ravindra murder case to August 23. The court also decided to examine different petitions filed by the accused for bail and for stay in the jail near Anantapur instead of Hyderabad.

    While twelve of the accused persons were produced in the court, K. Ramamohan Reddy was absent on health grounds. Key accused in the case G. Suryanarayana Reddy alias Suri was brought from the district jail at Reddypalli near here while the remaining eleven accused were brought from two central prisons in Hyderabad, where they were lodged.

    Accused taken back

    Those who were brought from Hyderabad included J. Srinivasa Reddy alias Moddu Sreenu, V. Hanumantha Reddy, T. Konda Reddy, P. Narayana Reddy, V. Rekhamaiah, V. Kondanna, V. Sreenivasulu, B. Ranganayakulu, M. Obi Reddy, T. Peddi Reddy and G. Venkateswar Reddy. These eleven accused were again taken back to the State capital.

    On a plea made by Hanumantha Reddy, Konda Reddy and Obi Reddy for permission to meet their family members, District Judge K. Giddenna allowed them to meet their kin for 15 minutes in the court premises itself.

    Bail plea

    The petitions filed by Hanumantha Reddy, Peddi Reddy and Rekhamaiah seeking bail would be examined on August 14, the judge stated.

    He also directed the Central Bureau of Investigation, the probe agency in this case, to file its objects, if any, on the bail petitions of the three before August 14. The judge also stated that the court would examine the petitions filed by 10 accused to keep them in the district jail near here

    instead of Hyderabad on August 14.
