Cyclist's death triggers protest in Adugodi

BANGALORE: A man riding pillion on a bicycle was run over by a van in Adugodi police station limits on Thursday morning. The victim, Sambashiva (45), was riding pillion when a motorcyclist hit the bicycle. The two cyclists and the motorcyclist fell down. Subsequently, Sambashiva was run over by the van. The incident triggered a protest by people who sought compensation for Sambashiva's kin.

Robbed

A man with criminal antecedents threatened a businessman and robbed him of Rs. 430 in cash and a wristwatch at knifepoint in Sriramapuram police station limits on Wednesday night. The police said that around 7.30 p.m., Sunder alias Tappu approached Sadiq, a scrap trader, at his shop in Christian Colony and demanded money from him for liquor.

When Sadiq refused to pay him, Sunder, against whom there are criminal cases, allegedly brandished a knife and robbed the trader, the police said. The Sriramapuram police have registered a case.
