CHENNAI: People of the Udumalpet block in Coimbatore district, Mangalore in Cuddalore district or Guzilamparai in Dindigul district do not have to struggle to know the status of water supply projects in their areas. They can visit the website of the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage (TWAD) Board, which recently executed rural water supply projects in these areas. The facility is available to people of other districts too. The data on the status of the projects are furnished panchayat-wise, block-wise and district-wise. Information on the cost of the schemes and the number of beneficiaries is also there. The website also gives a break-up of the projects, completed month-wise, since May. Similarly, the status of urban water supply schemes, underground sewerage projects and combined water supply projects is covered.
Monitoring work
A senior official says the website enables the administration to monitor the progress of the works easily. Also, it helps in fixing responsibility on the officials concerned. It provides an opportunity to beneficiaries to provide feedback to the administration. Officials say fine-tuning the website is a continuous process.
