BANGALORE: The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) has been told to renovate the Gandhi Bhavan situated on Kumara Krupa Road here at an estimated cost of Rs. 1 crore. Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy told presspersons on Wednesday after inspecting the Gandhi Bhavan along with a team of officials that the BDA would give a facelift to the building as some parts of it were in a bad condition. He wanted the BDA to complete the works, works, including levelling of footpath at the entrance to the building, by January 26, 2007. But the bhavan authorities had requested that the renovation works be completed by Gandhi Jayanti. On their request, he had instructed the BDA to complete the renovation the works by October 2, he said. Replying to questions on the purpose of convening a meeting of legislators of his party in Bangalore on Thursday, Mr. Kumaraswamy said not much should be read into the meeting. It was only an interactive meeting between Janata Dal (Secular) legislators and officials on administrative and developmental issues.
