International seminar at Teen Murti House

NEW DELHI: Under the auspices of Nehru Memorial Museum and Library, a two-day international seminar on "Nature In The Raj: Colonial Environments and Indigenous Knowledge" will be organised at Teen Murti House here beginning this Friday.

On the first day, there will be a discussion on "Interdisciplinary Approaches: History and the Environment". Nehru Memorial Museum and Library Director Mridula Mukherjee will take part in the discussion with other eminent personalities. A lecture on "Perspectives on the Environment: Rethinking the Old and the New" will be delivered by Dunno Roy of the Hazard Centre. The second day will feature a discussion on "Forests and Lands".

New secretary for Justice Party

NEW DELHI: Chandralekha, daughter of former Congress leader Kalpnath Rai, on Wednesday joined the Indian Justice Party of Udit Raj as national secretary.

Social worker Vinod Jain joined the party as national treasurer, while Rajpal Raj, a retired principal of a Delhi government school, joined the party as vice-president of the Delhi unit. Dr. Chandralekha said she joined the party "to fight for the cause of the poor, women and Dalits".

Protest march tomorrow

NEW DELHI: The All-India Students' Association (AISA) and the Revolutionary Youth Association (RYA) will take out a march in the Capital on Friday to protest against alleged failure of the United Progressive Alliance Government to deliver on its promises on education and employment.

In a statement, the activists have demanded that education and employment be made a Fundamental Right and an allowance be given to every unemployed youth. The march will begin at Ramlila Ground and culminate at Jantar Mantar where senior leaders would address the protesters.

Exposition of interior products

NEW DELHI: The four-day "Zak Premier Interior Expo-2006" that displayed a wide array of interior products and services ended at Hotel Taj Palace here on Tuesday.

Planned as a one-stop shop, the international exposition showcased globally reputed and branded furniture besides products by interior design manufacturers from the country. Organised by Chennai-based Zak Trade Fairs and Exhibitions, the exposition displayed bathroom fittings, chandeliers, decorative lighting, furniture and antiques.
