NEW VISTAS: A march past by students at the inauguration of the Air Wing of the National Cadet Corps in Poornaprajna High School.
Bangalore: An Air Wing of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) was inaugurated at Poornaprajna High School, Yelahanka, recently. Colonel Benz K. Jacob was chief guest and he received the general salute. Col. Jacob inspected the NCC contingents. It was followed by a march past by NCC designates accompanied by the school band. Kavya Sudhakar led the girls group and Rakshith led the boys group. Col. Jacob stressed on the responsibilities the cadets would have to bear and told them the benefits of joining the corps. He told then that they have to work hard to cope with curriculum and NCC activities. A cultural programme was presented by the students, which included a dance, "Vande Mataram," a group song and instrumental music by Vishal. Wing Commander G. Venkataraman (retd.) reminded the students about the duties of the youth toward the nation

Awareness campaign
About 150 students of the school belonging to classes seven to ten took up positions at 14 junctions, regulated traffic and guided road users to observe lane discipline for smooth movement of vehicles. Students carried banners with slogans related to lane discipline. The school identified 14 junctions where traffic flow is heavy during peak hours. These included the Windsor Manor junction, High Grounds, Anil Kumble Circle and Queen's Circle. The Bangalore Traffic Police assisted the students in the campaign.
