Of children and patriotism

WHAT DOES Independence Day mean to children? To them, it means more of freedom than any co-relation to Independence Day.

The children of today have no clue as to what Independence meant to their parents. It is unfortunate that elders too do little in inculcating the spirit of patriotism in their children.

Against this background, Ameoba, a family entertainment centre, conducted a painting competition for schoolchildren aged between six and 12. Fifty students participated in the competition.

It was a colourful way of celebrating Independence Day.
