City student wins design contest

HYDERABAD: A city student, A. Shiva Kumar, has won the "Design the Trophy Contest" for the forthcoming Sunfeast Open 2006 scheduled to start from September 18 to 24 in Kolkata.

Shiva Kumar's entry from Gautam Talent School, Hyderabad, was chosen by a panel of judges as the most creative among three lakh other entries by students from all over India.

The winning design would be the inspiration behind developing the actual trophy for the championship, a release from ITC Ltd said on Thursday.

To meet stars

Shiva Kumar will also get an opportunity to meet leading tennis stars who are scheduled to play in the Sunfeast Open 2006.

Over three lakh schoolchildren drawn from 400 schools participated in the contest to design a trophy for the championship, the release said.
