Staff Reporter

Classes were suspended for some time at Baldwin's and Wisdom

BANGALORE: Classes were suspended for a few hours at two schools in the city on Thursday following anonymous telephone calls that bombs had been planted on their premises.

The police said that around 11 a.m. the staff at the Police Control Room received a call that a bomb had been planted at Baldwin's Girls High School on Richmond Road.

On being alerted, the Ashoknagar police, along with the staff of Bomb Detection Squad and sniffer dogs, rushed to the school premises.

Search

After a thorough search, they did not find any explosives.

The call turned out to be a hoax, the police said.

The telephone number, which was recorded by the call identification device at the Police Control Room, was traced to a coin telephone booth near the school on the Richmond Road, the police said.

The police also searched the premises of Wisdom National Public School in Ashoknagar police station limits which had received a similar call. Even there the police did not find any bomb and the call turned out to be a hoax, they said. The Ashoknagar police have registered separate cases and are on the lookout for the miscreants.
