Bobbili MP passes away

HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam member of Parliament from Bobbili Kondapalli Pyditalli Naidu (76) passed away at his residence in Gantyada in Vizianagaram district after prolonged illness in the early hours of Saturday.

The three-time MP leaves wife, three sons and two daughters. Born on November 20, 1930, Pyditalli Naidu, an agriculturist by profession, entered politics by becoming the upa-sarpanch of Gantyada in 1987 and went on to become the TDP district unit president in 1992.

While serving as Vizianagaram Zilla Parishad Chairman, he was nominated by the TDP to contest from the Bobbili Lok Sabha seat in 1996. He won his maiden Parliament election and went on to retain the seat in the 1998 and 2004 elections.

During his tenure as MP, he served as member of the parliamentary committees on railways, agriculture advisory committee and food and consumer affairs besides PDS.

TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed grief at the demise of the senior party leader. Our Vizianagaram correspondent adds: The body of Naidu was kept at his house in Gantyada for the people to pay tributes.
