HYDERABAD: A labourer Narsing, 35, who was undergoing treatment for burns, died after falling down from the sixth floor of Gandhi Hospital here on Saturday. The Chilkalaguda police, who registered a case of suspicious death, said they were yet to ascertain if it was an accident or suicide. The victim was a resident of Hafeezpet near Kondapur and suffered burns when the kerosene stove in his house burst a week ago. He was shifted to the burns ward located on the sixth floor of Gandhi Hospital the same day.
Third incident
Hospital security guards said they heard a huge thud around 4.30 p.m. "When we rushed to find out what had happened, Narsing lay dead in a pool of blood," they told the investigating officers. While some visitors to the ward believed that the victim committed suicide by jumping through the window, his mother Yadamma said her son was not timid and had no reason to kill himself. This is the third time that a person died after falling down from the Gandhi Hospital building in the past six months.
Teacher held
A 42-year-old Urdu school teacher had allegedly sexually abused his 18-year-old student for past two years and got her married to another person after she became pregnant, the Kanchanbagh police said. The teacher Mohd. Azmathullah, who runs Darul Hasant Urdu school and hostel at Omar colony in Hafeezbabanagar, was arrested on Saturday. A criminal case for committing rape, forcible abortion, tampering with evidence and criminal intimidation was booked against him, Kanchanbagh Inspector Ramdas Teja said. The victim belonging to Palakurti in Warangal district, was admitted to the school by her poor parents when she was a child. "She had been living in the hostel. Taking advantage of her poverty, the teacher began sexually exploiting her for the past two years," the Inspector said.
