HYDERABAD: The Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad will intensify its efforts to rein in buildings that are deviating from sanctioned plans by verifying the construction work, according to Commissioner Sanjay Jaju.

He asked Chief City Planner B. Purushottama Reddy to visit areas wherever construction work was going on and initiate action if the buildings were being made in deviation from the approved plans.

The Commissioner on Saturday ordered the demolition of illegally built structures inside a private hospital, Sravana Super Speciality Hospital, at Jambagh and a commercial complex nearby. A charge memo is to be issued to the assistant city planner for both cases.

Accompanied by senior officials including Additional Commissioner (Planning & Projects) K. Dhananjaya Reddy, Mr. Jaju has warned builders against misusing their approved plans and going for illegal constructions or deviations as it would attract stringent action.

The Commissioner also inspected areas of Begum Bazar, Himayatnagar, Lingampally, Nampally, Banjara Hills and Jubilee Hills.

Top priority

All along the route the Commissioner took note of the buildings coming up and directed his town planning officials to demolish unauthorised structures immediately.

Violations of cellar space will also be viewed very seriously, he said. Potholes and footpaths are to be repaired on a priority basis.

The health and sanitation wing was asked to speed up the door-to-door garbage collection scheme and rope in more business establishments into the bulk garbage system.

Mr. Jaju also observed that if draftsmen, tracers and other staff of the town planning section were involved in the road widening exercise, it could be expedited.
