Qmax pact with U.S. firm

CHENNAI: Qmax Test Equipments Pvt Ltd., manufacturer of electronic automated test equipment (ATEs) systems, has signed a joint venture agreement with the U.S.-based Wayne Kerr Electronics, to market Qmax products in North America under the co-branded name Wayne Kerr Qmax.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, S. R. Sabapathi, Director (Technical), Qmax, said the company was a 100 per cent export-oriented unit located at Sholinganallur in Chennai, with focus on R&D, product development and manufacturing facilities.

The company with a headcount of 90 had a turnover of $5 million last year. The company was planning to recruit another 100 people by the end of the current year. Mr. Sabapathi said "Qmax's third generation ATEs had been designed and equipped to perform multiple test techniques for today's new technology PCs which had high pin count ICs and could not be tested normally using conventional ATE systems."

The Director said Qmax had signed MoUs with major players such as Den-on of Japan, Extech of the U.S. and YesTech of the U.K. It had recently signed an agreement with Comprion of Germany for testing mobile phones.
