Police official applies for anticipatory bail

Hajipur (Bihar): Deputy Inspector-General of Police (Railways) Ajay Verma facing a non-bailable arrest warrant (NBW) in a property dispute case, on Monday filed an anticipatory bail application in a Vaishali court.

Mr. Verma's advocate Virendra Narain Singh filed the application in the court of Vaishali District and Sessions Judge Prabhat Kumar Jha.

The application is expected to come up for hearing on Wednesday. Mr. Verma, against whom Hajipur Chief Judicial Magistrate Rampriya Sharan had on Friday issued a NBW on the request of the police in a property dispute case in Vaishali district, has gone underground to evade arrest. His wife Sampa told reporters that her husband was innocent . - PTI
