Report on failed space mission soon

Staff Reporter

Bangalore: The report of the Failure Analysis Committee that enquired into the failed space mission of the GSLV-F02, carrying INSAT-4C, which occurred on July 12, is expected to be submitted within the next few days.

Indian Space Research Organisation authorities said here on Tuesday that they would look into the recommendations of the FAC headed by K.Narayanan, former Director of the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota and take appropriate measures for future launches from Sriharikota.

Committee

The 15 member Committee, comprising experts from research and academic institutions besides those from various ISRO centres, was asked to review the performance of all sub systems of GSLV-F02 from lift-off to termination of the flight.

It was also to identify specific reasons for any anomalies observed and recommend correction measures to be followed in future.

Deviation

GSLV-F02, that took off from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre , had deviated from the projected path and was destructed mid air by the launch controllers following an anomaly in one of the strap-on motors.

The detailed analysis of the data received from the vehicles was being analysed by the Committee to find out the exact reasons for the failure of the launch.
