CHENNAI : The Narcotics Intelligence Bureau (NIB) police arrested two persons from Orissa after they were allegedly found to be in possession of 18 kg of ganja. According to a NIB press note issued here on Thursday, following a tip-off, a special team monitored the movement of people arriving by a train in Central Station. Around 4.15 a.m., when they intercepted two passengers on suspicion near Wall Tax Road, they were in possession of 18 kg of ganja hidden in a bag. Discreet inquiries revealed that they purchased the narcotic in Andhra and boarded the train there. According to the confession, they had planned to sell the ganja in Chennai. The names of the two were given as Ramkemudu (36) and Purusabangi (26) of Malkangiri district, Orissa. After a case was registered, the two persons were produced before the XVI Egmore Metropolitan Magistrate court, which remanded them to custody, the note said.
