New Delhi: Pulling up the NDMC for filing vague replies, Delhi High Court on Friday directed its chairperson to file a detailed affidavit on encroachments of pavements at Malcha Marg in Chanakyapuri, which is part of the diplomatic hub in south Delhi. A Division Bench of acting Chief Justice Vijender Jain and Justice R S Sodhi also pulled up NDMC counsel Anjana Gosain for failing to furnish proper replies on the "illegal" construction of a place of worship in the marketplace. "Did you visit the place. How can you place on record an affidavit to say that there were no permanent encroachments on the footpaths without verifying facts," the Bench asked the counsel. The issue related to unauthorised constructions of shops on the foodpaths by some "tehbazari rights" holders who had permission only for setting up makeshift shops in the market. -- PTI
