CHENNAI: The Cine Technicians Association of South India has announced their CTA awards for 2005. Directors A.C. Tirulokchander, V.C. Guhanathan and music director M.S. Viswanathan are the winners this year. The function will be held on Thursday at the South Indian Film Chamber auditorium.
How it began
Cinematographer and director K. Ramnoth established the Cine Technicians Association of South India 63 years ago. His intention was to bring all cine technicians under one umbrella. For the past two decades, CTA has been awarding technicians from various fields from the South. The Ramnoth award for lifetime achievement will be given to director K. Shankar (posthumous) editor-director M.S. Money, director Bapu and writer-director R.N. Jayagopal.
Kalaignar award
The Kalaignar award has been won by the Paruchuri Brothers and the MGR award will go to writer-director V.C. Guganathan. The Pesum Padam award will be received by music director M.S. Viswanathan, the AVM award will go to director A.C. Trilokchander and the L.V. Prasad award will be received by director Jayraj.
K. Subramanyam award
The K. Subramanyam award has been won by debut director Mysskin and the Van Der Auwera (agfa) award will go to cinematographer Panneerselvam. Directors Adoor Gopalakrishnan, K. Viswanath, producer AVM Saravanan, Ramesh Prasad, K.C.N. Chandrasekhar, K.R. and Director C.G. Rajendra Babu will felicitate the award winners.
