14 State teachers get national award

BANGALORE: The Union Government has selected 14 teachers from the State for the national best teacher award for 2005-06.

The award comprises National Savings Certificates of Rs. 25,000 face value.

The award will be presented at the Teacher's Day function in New Delhi on September 5.

Those who have won the award are as follows:

Mehabub Jan, R.K. Government Urdu School, Arundhathinagar, Bangalore; Hanumantharayappa, Government Primary School, Doddaballapur, Bangalore Rural district;

G.M. Sharanaiah, Government Primary School, Kalledevarapura, Davangere; S. Shivachidambara, Government Higher Primary School, Gopalapura, Mandya; Karunakara Shetty, Government Higher Primary School, Nalkur, Udupi; Sunanda C. Bennur, Government Kannada School, Chikkodi; Chennappa Gangavva Honnappanavar, Government Primary School, Ranebennur; Basavannavva Hanumanthappa Narasapur, Government Kannada Girls Primary School, Badami and Adiveppa P. Angadi, Government Primary School , Munirabad.
