Woman robbed at knifepoint

BANGALORE: Three men robbed a woman of her gold ornaments worth Rs. 50,000 at knifepoint in Kamakshipalya police station limits on Sunday.

Police said that around 11.30 a.m., Lakshmamma (52) was walking towards her house on 6th Cross, 1st Stage, KHB Colony, when three men, who came in a car, accosted her near Summanahalli Ring Road and introduced themselves as her son Nagaraj's friends.

They told her that Nagaraj was waiting for her at her disputed land in Peenya and took Lakshmamma in the car. On reaching 2nd Stage, Peenya, they threatened her with a knife and robbed her of a pair of gold bangles and a chain, the police said. The Kamakshipalya police have registered a case.

House burgled

Burglars struck at an architect's house in Byappanahalli police station limits and made away with gold ornaments worth Rs. 4 lakh and Rs. 25,000.

Police said the incident took place at Phanindra's house at Byarasandra, between September 1 and 3, when his family members were away. The thieves had entered the house by breaking open the main door, they said.

Found dead

A 31-year-old woman was found dead at her house in Banashankari police station limits on Monday morning.

While there were no external injuries on Indiramma's body, police suspect that she could have been strangled to death. Indiramma, a fruit vendor at Gandhi Bazar, was a resident of 13th A Cross, 9th Main, Thyagarajanagar. Her husband, Harikrishna, is a security guard, police said.

Arrested

The City Market police have arrested Sazzad (20) of Nagavara Road on charges of robbery and recovered from him two gold chains, together worth Rs. 50,000.

The police said the accused used to moved around in an autorickshaw and snatched gold chains from women.
